Connecting rod drilling

One of the most important parts of the crankcase is the crank. The crank transforms the vertical movement caused by the explosion into a rotating movement on the main shaft. Crankshaft drilling helps to save unique and expensive faulty crankshafts, because redrilling does not require us to buy a new crankshaft when rebuilding an engine. Crank arm drilling is a work process in which the failed, worn hole is re-drilled and a new bearing is placed in the crank arm. Another method of drilling the crankshaft is grinding from the ring fitting point of the disassembled semi-circle from the side mounted on the crankshaft. During assembly, the slightly elliptical inner hole is re-drilled to the factory size.

In the engine block, the pistons move in the cylinders. Over time, due to movement, the cylinders may crack or wear out due to material defects, under-design, overload due to tuning, improper lubrication...

In such cases, cylinder drilling is the best solution. We have several options for cylinder renewal. We drill out the cylinder to a larger diameter, thus removing the defective surface, and then install pistons of a correct size in the block. Or we machine the cylinder to such a radius that we can press a cylinder bushing into it, so a completely new, perfect surface is created and we can use the basic size pistons again.

Cylinder drilling is performed using CNC technology. In engine restoration work, cylinder drilling must be followed by a honing process, so that the cylinder wall has a special surface when honed, which helps to maintain compression, and at the same time provides adequate lubrication for the sidewall of the piston.

Crankshaft grinding

The crankshaft is the part of the crankcase that converts the linear movement of the pistons into rotary movement with the help of the cranks and transmits it to other parts of the drive chain. Defective crankshafts undergo a multi-step renovation process in our workshop. First of all, we determine the condition of the material surface of the part. We use a magnetic crankshaft crack testing machine to determine whether microcracks are present. If there is deformation in the line of the crankshaft, we straighten the crankshaft with a special hydraulic, high-pressure device. By grinding and polishing the pins of the crankshafts, we create a component with a suitable surface again. Since the diameter of the main shaft's fulcrum and crankpins has decreased, oversized bearings are required. Crankshafts are very expensive parts, so if the condition of the failure still allows for renovation, it is worthwhile to restore the part.

Line drilling

Line drilling is a work process during which we machine the shaft housing holes of the camshafts of the cylinder heads and the main shafts of the engine blocks. The line drill is capable of re-drilling serial holes with an accuracy of hundredths of a millimeter. The holes are made with a special line drilling machine, which is suitable for making holes on exactly one axis.
